![]() ![]() ![]() Residency period: February to June 2024.Offered by: Imera and The Edinburgh University.The investigation of their interactions with mobile persons and groups, as well as with civil society and governmental actors, will reveal changes in the concepts and social and political practices that constitute the basis of current Mediterranean identity. This program proposes to first examine how these forms of solidarity are expressed in the contemporary Mediterranean context through so-called Islamic organizations as well as through interactions between these organizations and other civil society actors, both religious and non-religious. ![]() It investigates and examines, in more detail, the part played by Muslim solidarities in the development of citizenship and civility in the Mediterranean region. The goal of this research project, which is being directed by Professor Frédéric Volpi (University of Edinburgh), Senior Fellow at Iméra 2021–24, is to examine the establishment, operation, and transformation of modern Mediterranean identities under crisis situations.
